It only applies to HDA v4.5.0 or older as v4.6.0 has detection of the GPU/CPU/XPU methods built in for Solaris context and for regular (/out) Arnold, Redshift, Renderman and VRay workflow (for Karma in /out you would still need to add the parameter).
A - FOR RENDERING
In order to make GPU machines (OB) available for rendering nodes to do some editing. In the ROP node that is connected to the GridMarkets node a custom "Toggle" parameter named "rendergpu" must be added.
1 - Please add it from the Parameters section as opposed to trying editing it from the Right Mouse Button menu. Please select the USD Render node and from its Parameters window click on the cog icon and select "Edit parameter interface":
2 - Edit parameter interface window appears.
- select the category (folder icon) from the middle column - we will use "
Scripts" category for our example.
- From the far right column choose "
By Type" section and select the "
Toggle" type. Right click on it and select "
Install Parameter" or just use the white arrow between the columns to install it.
- Select the newly added parameter and change the names to "
rendergpu" in the far right tab, as shown in the screenshot below.
- Hit "
Accept" when done.
3 - You should see the newly added parameter in your category of choice - please enable it:
You are now able to use the GPU machines.
B - FOR SIMULATIONS
In case of wanting to use GPU nodes with the simulation jobs (for example ones utilizing Axiom solver) please make sure the "Requires GPU" feature is enabled in our cloud cache node:
